One of my favorite places in Los Angeles to get good gluten free Mexican food is Mercado. With locations in Santa Monica, Los Angeles and Hollywood, Mercado is a fun go-to spot for any celiac. While it is not safe to eat anything that goes in their deep fryer (it is shared with wheat products), they do make amazing gluten free corn tortillas that can be served with almost any of their tacos (I also eat their corn tortillas with salsa and guac).

All of Mercado's meat and sauces are gluten free, and every time I have eaten there the servers have been knowledgeable about celiac disease.

Now, they are not an exclusively gluten free restaurant, so you have to use your own discretion when dining there. If nothing else, you will enjoy the fun atmosphere and Mercado Margarita.

Formally known as Babycakes NYC bakery, Erin McKenna's Bakery opened a new location in Los Angeles this past February. This gluten free gem is in the Hollywood / Larchmont neighborhood of Los Angeles, and is not to be missed by any Celiac / gluten free foodie / vegan. Every single item in this bakery is 100% gluten free, vegan, refined-sugar-free and non GMO — and there are a LOT of awesome things to try.

I taste tested the Brownie Cupcake with vanilla mint frosting, and the vanilla frosted donut, and both were insanely delicious. While the baked goods are the main draw of the shop, they also sell at-home baking mixes, the Babycakes NYC cookbook, and some savory items like crackers and bread. The bakery also ships nationally, so you can always order as much as you want online. I highly recommend making Erin McKenna's Bakery a stop for any Celiac in Los Angeles!

Do Not Miss Out On The Best Poke Bowl In Los Angeles

I recently discovered Poke Poke in Venice Beach, and now I am a full-blow Hawaiian poke addict. I order The Original Hawaiian bowl, which is made with white or brown rice, marinated ahi in gluten free tamari (which you have to ask for), sesame oil, sesame seeds, and green and white onions. I also like to add macadamia nuts and avocado on top. Again, you have to specifically ask for gluten free tamari — but they are well equipped to make you a delicious gluten free bowl. If you are ever in Venice Beach, you can find Poke Poke tucked away on the boardwalk at 1827 Ocean Front Walk. Heads up, there is usually quite a long line at this place, especially at lunch.

Coffee bar by day, wine bar by night,Le Zinque is a great go-to spot. With two locations, one in West Hollywood and one in Venice Beach, Zinque offers great atmosphere both day and night. The best part about this place? They have a completely dedicated fry frier that is 100% gluten free!

Also very noteworthy at Zinque is their signature Le Bowl. This dish is an awesome layered mix of
brown rice, avocado, tomato, arugula, aged comte, parmesan, cilantro, siracha. You can then top the Le Bowl with chicken, egg white frittata, ahi tuna, salmon or ratatouille. While the kitchen at Zinque is not exclusively gluten free, the staff there is knowledgeable about Celiac Disease and makes the Le Bowl in a separate area of the kitchen. I have never had a problem with it, and would highly recommend trying out Zinque for a glass of wine, some fries and a Le Bowl!
